We collect your email address when you contact us for information & / or via a blog subscription in order to send you our latest health & fitness content via newsletter. We collect things like your data, such as email addresses health & medical information, photographs / videos & other details relating to your fitness goals to enhance your health & fitness journey & experience with our programs.

We honour your right to privacy, will never share your information without your explicit permission and will comply with your wishes to remove any data from our systems upon your request.

1st Step Fitness is committed to protecting our customer privacy & takes its responsibility regarding the security of customer information & data very seriously. We will be clear about the information we are collecting & what we will do with that information or data.

1st Step Fitness (referred to as “we”, “us”, “our” or “1st Step Fitness”) in this policy is the “data controller” of all personal data that is collected and used.

Personal data means any information relating to you which allows us to identify you, such as your name, phone number, social media name, postal address, email address, details of products or services you have purchased, payment details & information about your access to our website as well as photographs / videos of our exercise sessions. All Data requested by 1st Step Fitness is mandatory & failure to provide this Data may make it impossible for us to provide our services.


We may collect personal data from you in a number of ways. Specifically, we may collect the following categories of personal data:

•Name, home address, e-mail address, telephone number, payment details;

•Information such as nationality, place & date of birth, and gender;

•Medical conditions or requirements, and dietary preferences;

•Information you provide about yourself;

•Information about your purchases of services from us;

•Information about your use of our website;

•Photographs & / or videos from group classes, personal training & other health & fitness services. By signing the disclaimer / waiver on our PAR-Q / consultation forms you give us the right to use your likeness in a photograph, video, or other digital media (“photo”) in any & all of its publications, including web-based publications, without payment or other consideration. Photos will become the property of 1ST STEP FITNESS and will not be returned. You authorize us to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute these photos for any lawful purpose. In addition, you waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein your likeness appears. Additionally, you waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of the photo.

•Communications with us or directed to us via letters, emails, chat services, calls, and social media;

•Location, including real-time geographic location of your computer or device through GPS along but only if you use location-based features & turn on the location services settings on your device or computer.

•Personal details including your physical or mental health are considered “sensitive” personal data under applicable data protection laws. We will process any such data only if you have given your explicit consent, or if it is necessary, or you have deliberately made it public.

•The Personal Data collected to complete a payment may include the credit card, the bank account used for the transfer, or any other means of payment envisaged. The kind of Data collected by 1st Step Fitness depends on the payment system used by the client.

•Managing contacts and sending messages. This makes it possible to manage a database of email contacts, phone contacts or any other contact information to communicate with the client. These services may also collect data concerning the date & time when the message was viewed by the client, as well as when the User interacted with it, such as by clicking on links included in the message.


What do we use your personal data for, why, and for how long

Your data may be used for the following purposes:

•To provide products and services you request: we use the information you give us to perform the services for which you have signed up. This includes Fitness Classes & Personal Training PAR-Qs for which the information given regarding your health to ensure you are safe to partake & emergency information if needed.

•Credit or other payment card verification/screening; & payment information for accounting, billing and audit purposes and to detect or prevent any fraudulent activities;

•Security, health, administrative, crime prevention/detection: we may pass your information to government authorities or enforcement bodies for compliance with legal requirements;

•Customer service communications: we use your data to manage our relationship with you as our customer & to improve our services and enhance your experience with us;

•Provide tailored services: we use your data to provide information we believe is of interest to you, prior to, during, and after your interactions with us, & to personalise the services we offer to you.

•We will only process your personal data where we have a legal basis to do so, which will depend on the reasons for which we have collected & need to use your personal data.

•In most cases we will need to process & analyse your personal data so that we can enter into our contract and fulfil the delivery of goods or services to you.


We may also process your personal data for one or more of the following:

•Where you have consented to our using your personal data (eg. for marketing related uses);

•To protect your vital interests or those of another person (eg. in case of a medical emergency);

•Request correction of the personal information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.

•Request us to erase / dispose of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it.
